Long before reaching Uhuru Peak, there’s a moment climbers never forget: reaching Gillman’s Point. This steep, dusty climb near the summit pushes your limits. My group started in darkness, our headlamps lighting the trail as we battled cold winds and thin air.
The moment we reached Gillman’s Point, the first light of dawn broke over the horizon. The sky turned pink, then gold. Below us were endless clouds. Above us—still higher—waited Uhuru Peak.
